Amherst man dies in Route 9 accident

BELCHERTOWN - A head-on crash in the area of 299 Federal St./Route 9 in Belchertown, Friday, Feb. 17, at approximately 2:45 p.m., claimed the life of Larry Kelley, 62, of Amherst, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.
Police said Kelley was traveling east on Route 9, when a collision occurred between his vehicle and a westbound vehicle being operated by an 18-year-old Belchertown male.
Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver and his two passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.
Belchertown Police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office, MSP Crime Scene Services and MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section responded.
The incident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
